Godber Tumushabe
Godber W. Tumushabe is current Executive Director of Advocates Coalition for Development and Environment. He is a member of the Bar in Uganda and an Assistant Lecturer at the Faculty of Law at Makerere University where he teaches international law, environmental law and jurisprudence. Godber received his first degree in law (LLB) from Makerere University, Kampala in 1993. He attended a post-graduate Bar Course at Uganda's Law Development Centre and later joined the Faculty of Law at Makerere University where he obtained a Masters Degree in Law (LLM) in 1996. In 1997, Godber joined a Nairobi-based public policy think tank- the African Centre for Technology Studies (ACTS) as a Visiting Fellow and rose through the ranks to become a Senior Research Fellow in 1999. At ACTS, Godber directed Africa-wide policy research projects on environmental governance and conservation of natural resources. At the beginning of 2000, Godber attended the Ford Foundation Fellowship in Environmental Politics at the Institute of International Studies, University of California, Berkeley and later returned to Uganda as Founding Executive Director of ACODE. Since then, he has served as Chair or member of prestigious national and international policy committees of governments, civil society and international organizations. Godber has undertaken major writing and research assignments and he is co-editor with Prof. H.W.O. Okoth-Ogendo of Governing the Environment: Political Change and Natural Resources Management in Eastern and Southern Africa (1999). He is also completing a co-authored forthcoming publication on Law, Science and Technology in Africa which is the basis of his research during the SPILS Programme. Godber is currently on a study leave at Stanford Law School as a Fellow in the Stanford Programme in International Legal Studies (SPILS) pursuing studies leading to the award of a Juridical Science Master. Arthur Bainomugisha
Arthur Bainomugisha is the Director of Research and Head of Peace and Conflict Programme at ACODE. He is also a part-time lecturer at the Peace and Conflict Studies Program, Makerere University as well as a visiting lecturer at the Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST), in the Faculty of Development Studies. Before joining ACODE, he worked as a Civil Society Fellow with the International Peace Academy (IPA), a New York based public policy think tank. He has carried out several researches and contributed articles in a number of publications on peace, security and environmental governance. Notable among his publications include: "The Roles of Civil Society in Peace Building in the Great Lakes Region", "Constitutional Reforms and Environmental Legislative Representation in Uganda", "The Torturous Peace Process in Northern Uganda" among others. Bainomugisha holds a Masters degree in Peace Studies from University of Bradford (UK) and a Bachelors degree in Mass Communication from Makerere University, Uganda. Onesmus Mugyenyi
Onesmus Mugyenyi is the Manager for the Trade Policy Governance Programme and full-time Public Policy Analyst. He has undertaken policy research and published in the areas of Environment and Trade. Onesmus has taught both Commercial and International Business Law at Makerere Business School and is an Advocate of the high Court of Uganda. He holds a Master of Law Degree from Makerere University (LLM) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from Law Development Centre. Email: omugyenyi@acode-u.org


Andrew M. Mwenda
Andrew M. Mwenda is a Research Fellow at ACODE. He has been a John Knight Fellow at Stanford University till July 2007. Before then, he worked as Political Editor of Daily Monitor newspaper in Uganda and hosted the most popular radio talk-show on its affiliate FM radio station KFM. Mwenda did a bachelors degree in journalism from Makerere University and a Master of Science in Development Studies from the University of London School of Oriental and African Studies. He has taught at Makerere University, been a visiting fellow at the Africa Study Centre of the University of Leiden in the Netherlands and a guest lecturer at the University of Florida, Gainesville. Mwenda has worked as a consultant for the World Bank and Transparency International. He has also written for international newspapers and magazines like Des Spiegel and the International Herald Tribune. He has done documentaries for BBC television and radio, and has regularly featured in interviews on CNN, BBC, SABC Africa, Sky News, New York Times, Financial Times, The Times of London, The Economist and the Washington Post. Mwenda has also authored articles for international journals like Africa Affairs, Journal of Modern African Studies, Review of African Political Economy and Journal of Democracy. Bashir Twesigye
Bashir Twesigye is a Research Assistant with ACODE. He conducts research with all of ACODE’s Research Programmes. He holds a Bachelors degree in Law(LL.B) from Makerere University, a Diploma in Legal Practice from Law Development Centre, and is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Law (LL.M) at the Makerere University. Sophie Kutegeka

Sophie Kutegeka currently works as the Programme Assistant for the Environmental Democracy Programme. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Arts from Makerere University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Governance, Democratisation and Public Policy from the Institute of Social Studies, The Netherlands. She is currently pursuing a Master of Arts Degree in Development Studies at Uganda Martytrs University, Nkozi. She joined ACODE as a student and worked as a volunteer after which she gained a lot of experience and trainings to become a full time employee. She provides both research and administrative support to the various projects under the Environmental Democracy Programme. Annet Nuwagaba
Annet Nuwagaba is a Programme Assistant at ACODE, and she provides administrative support to ACODE Programmes. She also provides logistic support for ACODE’s Projects. She holds a Bachelors degree in Social Sciences from Makerere University Kampala. Email: acode@acode-u.org

Grace Gumisiriza
Grace Gumisiriza works as the Accounts Officer. She previously worked with Rubaga Hospital as Assistant to Senior Accountant and Kampala Club. Grace also worked as Accountant with Spear Motors Ltd. She is currently pursuing a professional course ( CPA) with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda. She brings a wealth of accounting experience to ACODE. Lillian Muyomba
Lillian Muyomba is a Research Fellow with ACODE. She is a graduate of Social Work and Social Administration (MUK) and has undergone training in Project Planning and Management, Strategic Planning and Human Resource Management at Uganda Management Institute, Kampala. With an Anti Corruption professional background, Lillian brings to ACODE a whole wealth of experience in the fields of Public Accountability, Transparency and People centered advocacy. Robert S.Nsubuga
Robert S. Nsubuga currently works as the Information Officer at ACODE. He is responsible for the management and coordination of ACODE website and the library section.
